Nvidia launches Ada Generation GPU with 19.9B transistors

Nvidia unveiled its RTX 2000 Ada Generation GPU, a graphics processing unit designed to meet the demands of AI-accelerated design and visualization.

This latest addition to the RTX lineup — built with 19.9 billion transistors — touts performance, versatility, and AI capabilities, positioning it as a solution for professionals in various fields.

Generative AI has become a driving force across industries, prompting businesses to carefully choose hardware that aligns with the demands of their workflows. The RTX 2000 Ada Generation GPU is a response to this need, delivering AI, graphics, and compute technology in a compact workstation-friendly package, Nvidia said.

The GPU shines in professional workflows, offering up to 1.5 times the performance of its predecessor, the RTX A2000 12GB, in tasks such as crafting 3D environments, design reviews, and industrial design. With 16GB of memory, the RTX 2000 Ada caters to modern multi-application workflows, ensuring professionals can seamlessly handle AI-powered tools, multi-display setups, and high-resolution content.

Powered by Nvidia RTX technology, the GPU introduces Nvidia Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS), providing ultra-high-quality, photorealistic ray-traced images more than three times faster than before. This advancement is not only impactful for graphics but also enhances enterprise virtual-reality workflows, particularly in areas such as product design and engineering reviews.

Architects and urban planners can use the GPU to accelerate visualization workflows, while product designers and engineers can leverage the GPU’s rendering capabilities for rapid iteration and generative design. Content creators benefit from seamless editing of high-resolution videos and images, integrating AI for realistic visual effects and content creation assistance.

In embedded applications and edge computing, the RTX 2000 Ada empowers real-time data processing for medical devices, optimization of manufacturing processes through predictive maintenance, and the integration of AI-driven intelligence in retail environments.

Several industry leaders have already embraced the power of the RTX 2000 Ada, including Dassault Systèmes for its Solidworks applications, Rob Wolkers Design and Engineering, and WSP. Professionals utilizing the GPU have praised its features, emphasizing its compact design, exceptional performance, and the game-changing 16GB of RAM.

“The new NVIDIA RTX 2000 Ada — with its higher-efficiency, next-generation architecture, low power consumption and large frame buffer — will benefit Solidworks users,” said Olivier Zegdoun, graphics applications r&d director for Solidworks at Dassault Systèmes. “It delivers excellent performance for designers and engineers to accelerate the development of innovative product experiences with full-model
fidelity, even with larger datasets.”

Rob Wolkers, owner and senior industrial design engineer at Rob Wolkers Design and Engineering, attested to the GPU’s impact on productivity, emphasizing its ability to work with large datasets in full fidelity and generate renders with increased speed.

The Nvidia RTX 2000 Ada features the latest technologies in the Nvidia Ada Lovelace GPU architecture, including third-generation RT Cores for faster ray-tracing, fourth-generation Tensor Cores for enhanced AI throughput, CUDA cores for improved graphics and compute workloads, and power efficiency for a two times performance boost within the same power consumption.

The GPU is available through global distribution partners and will be offered by major manufacturers like Dell Technologies, HP, and Lenovo starting in April. Attendees at Dassault Systèmes’ 3DExperience World can witness live demos of Solidworks applications powered by the RTX 2000 Ada at the Dell, Lenovo, and Z by HP booths.
